Formats:
Countdown DYP:
My name for a basic timed foosball format. Matches will be 2/3 with a 5 minute game clock (standard shot clocks on the rods). The game-clock stops between points, timeouts, when the ball is unreachable (including leaving the the table), or a rule-violation is called.
Time warnings will be given at final minute, and ten seconds. Players are always welcome to inquire of the gameclock during play stoppage.
If tied when time expires:
There is a stoppage of play upon the buzzer, the ball is put back in play on the rod on which it ended as time expired.
- In the first two games: play out that last ball sudden-death with no game-clock.
- In the third and deciding game: a 2:00 minute overtime begins. If tied after overtime, then the final ball is played out as in the early games.
Time-keepers: All players that enter in the timed events must be willing to be a time-keeper for at least one match in that event (not too burdensome in the age of smartphones).
Minute-to-Win-It Singles:
As its name implies, this is a timed format played best 2-3 where each game has a 1 minute game clock. The game clock is stopped between points, when the ball is unreachable or goes out of play, or if there's an external distraction or rule violation. No other time-outs. The player with the most points at the end of the minute wins the game. Ties as time expires result in a sudden death ball (reserved after the buzzer). The shot clock is limited to five seconds on each rod, so it's fast-paced and a lot of fun!
All players who sign up must be willing to act as timers as needed for at least one other match.
