M2WI Singles will be no-conflict with the BYP at the time of sign-ups (ie. a fun format meant for those eliminated early in the BYP and for latecomers looking to warm up for the draw). 2/3, Double elimination, capped at 8 players to ensure time for the draft.
There will be no split bracket for the draft, so expect some conflicts and shortened matches in the loser's bracket of the draft if time becomes a concern.
If you cannot make it by 4:45 for the bring, but can make it by 5:30 pm, contact Skip to let him know you're coming and you can still enter the bring. (Txt by 7:45 to get entered in the draft if running late, but your opportunity to pick your partner will be passed if you are not present during the draft).
The draw works as follows: The draft order is composed of a random ordering of all players. Players will get to view the Draft Order Board in advance and during the selection process.
The first player at the top of the order gets to choose their partner from all the rest of the players (the drafted player is crossed off the draft order). The second player on the order chooses from all those remaining...and so forth down to the final two not chosen. That team of undrafted free agents gets the drop at the beginning of every game as a consolation (no hard feelings hopefully : ))
All the drama of a draft (the steals, the strategy) plus pitfalls of a standard draw avoided (if you're more of a goalie you can look for a forward; it's less likely you'll end up w/ X if you don't like playing with X, etc). Plus it's still a format where the top two players could end up together or the rookie could choose the top pro.
Minute 2 Win It Singles:
As its name implies, this is a timed format played best 2-3 where each game has a 1 minute game clock. The game clock is stopped between points, when the ball is unreachable or goes out of play, or if there's an external distraction or rule violation. No other time-outs. The player with the most points at the end of the minute wins the game. Ties as time expires result in a sudden death ball (reserved after the buzzer). The shot clock is limited to five seconds on each rod, so it's fast-paced and a lot of fun!
All players who sign up must be willing to act as timers as needed for at least one other match.
